Coca-Cola is so much more than just a bottle of fizzy brown caramel flavoured soft drink. It's a family of international companies including Coca-Cola Amatil NZ Ltd with a long history and ever increasing range of products.

Coca-Cola is older than you might think. The original caramel flavoured syrup was created over one hundred and twenty years ago in 1882 by a pharmacist named John Pemberton. The first glass of Coca-Cola syrup was sold mixed with carbonated water at Jacobs Pharmacy in Atlanta Georgia.

By 1909 there were 400 bottling plants across America, competition was tough and imitators abounded. In 1916 the company innovated yet again and the world recognised contour bottle was born, a unique design which has become one of the most famous trade marks in the world.

The Coca-Cola Company continued to grow, branching out geographically and with their product range. By the end of WWII there were 64 international bottling plants. Sprite, Fanta, Fresca and TAB were introduced in the 60's, followed by Mello Yellow in the 70's and PowerAde in the 1980's.

Here at Coca-Cola Amatil NZ Ltd we have continued to diversify and grow our product range with market leaders like our Pump range, Deep Spring, our very own L&P and the likes of the Keri Juice Company and Kiwi Blue. Recently we have added a coffee to our range of products allowing us to further satisfy our consumers.

L&P is more than a soft drink – it's an icon of New Zealand. It's a brand we've all grown up with – it was the soft drink that we remember drinking in tea rooms on long road trips during the school holidays, the drink we were allowed on birthdays and special occasions because it wouldn't stain the carpet, and the drink that Mum packed when we headed off for family BBQs or fish and chips on the beach.
